Programme
Goals: The longstanding problem of stability of mechanical systems has attracted a great deal of effort and has given rise to several mathematical disciplines. The goal of the courses will be to allow beginning graduate students or researchers in other disciplines to obtain sufficient background in several of the techniques that are the basis of the modern results.

 

The courses will be:
Background in Hamiltonian systems and averaging methods  

Classical and global variational methods  

Invariant objects: KAM theorem and Normally hyperbolic invariant manifolds 

Shadowing lemmas and topological methods 

Homoclinic connections and separatrix map 

Applications to Celestial Mechanics and Chemistry

Grants and
financial support:		 The CRM offers a limited number of grants covering registration and accommodation addressed to young researchers. The deadline for application is June 15, 2008.
VERY IMPORTANT

Note that those participants awarded with accommodation grants will have their lodging arranged through the organisation. The remaining participants are encouraged to book their lodging needs as soon as possible. You can check our page on Information on lodging in the area.
Registration and Payment: There is the possibility to register at a reduced price to two related activities that have been scheduled to take place one after the other, this one and the Conference on Stability and Instability in Mechanical Systems: Recent progress and mathematical theory. Participants may apply for registration grant and lodging grant for both activities through the Registration to both activities process (below).

 

 

Registration fee to Conference on Advanced Course on Stability Instability in Mechanical Systems: 250 Euros

Registration fee to both Advanced Course on Stability Instability in Mechanical Systems and Conference on Stability and Instability in Mechanical Systems: Recent progress and mathematical theory: 400 Euros

Deadline for Registration and Payment: September 10

* Registration includes: Participation to the lectures, documentation package, lunch tickets, conference dinner, and the coffee breaks.
